F04/W04 Negotiations

Success. I would have preferred to convoy Gascony, but I still probably would have covered Brest and could not have built there. England’s moves can be explained by the fact that he assumed I would move a fleet from Iri to Lvp. My diplomacy with Italy worked, and ensured that Germany kept Munich and I kept Spain. Italy writes to Germany and myself as follows:

I’ve got to keep Italy and Germany with me for now. Germany also writes separately to me.

First, Italy will get a retreat, and then I will get a build, and Germany will get a build. Italy retreated to Naples.

Italy really wants me to build an army in Marseilles to help defend Venice. I would much rather build a fleet. So, I reach out to Austria to encourage him to act against Russia.

Then, upon Italy’s suggestion, I write press to Austria, Germany, and Italy.

This was really a post geared to Austria. Italy and Germany join to support me.

Austria’s response was a tad disheartening. Overall, non-committal, but that usually spells bad news in this game.
